AlphaSim RA-5C Vigilante Procedures
For specifications see the aircraft menu.
- Minimum controllable speed, clean: 168 KIAS at 68,000
lbs.
- Minimum controllable speed, landing: 133 KIAS at 50,000
lbs.
Engine Start
Use Ctrl-E (autostart) to start the aircraft.
Takeoff
- Make sure fuel is set to fullest tank.
- Set flaps to 30 degrees.
- Set elevator trim neutral.
- Apply full power smoothly.
- Rotate at about 160 KIAS.
Climb
- Climb at 300 KIAS.
- Set climb power to 90-95% power.
- Trim as required.
- Monitor fuel distribution and transfer as required to
maintain proper CG.
Cruising
- Set cruise power as desired from 70-85% power.
- Set cruise speed as desired.
- Trim as required.
- Monitor fuel distribution and transfer as required to
maintain proper CG.
Descent
- Retard throttles as desired.
- Use spoilers as required to lose altitude.
- Trim and transfer fuel as required.
Landing
- Check weight and monitor fuel distribution and transfer as
required to maintain proper CG.
- Landing weight should be about 50,000 lbs.
- Approach the field at about 290 KIAS with plenty of room to slow down.
- Extend flaps/droops to 30 degrees.
- Extend landing gear at about 230 KIAS.
- Deploy flaps/droops to 50 degrees.
- Slow to approach speed of approximately 140 KIAS and
set autothrottle to hold speed during final.
- Use 15 units angle of attack during final approach at
the recommended airspeed.
- After touchdown - turn autothrottle off, hold nose off
as long as possible, use brakes once the nosewheel touches.
