AlphaSim F8 Corsair Procedures
For specifications and weights see the aircraft menu. Use the Fuel and
Payloads options to set up weight and fuel loading.
- Stall speed, clean: 140 KIAS at 25,000 lbs.
- Stall speed, landing: 135 KIAS at 25,000 lbs..
- Max flap/wing incidence extension (fully deployed): 220 KIAS
- Max gear extension: 220 KIAS
- Max Mach: 1.9
- Max IAS: 800 KIAS
Engine Start
Use Ctrl-E (autostart) to start the aircraft, or:
- Set parking brake.
- Set throttle to IDLE.
- Bring up the Electrical Panel using the panel icon.
- Turn OFF Avionics and Deice switches.
- Turn on Master Battery switch.
- Ensure fuel supply is on (advance mixture control fully
or press Ctrl-Shift-F4).
- Bring up throttle panel.
- Start Engine using the engine start switch.
- Monitor oil pressure and temperature.
Takeoff (normal fuel)
- Make sure fuel is sufficient.
- Check aircraft weight.
- Set wing incidence up, flaps to full down using flaps
control.
- Set elevator trim neutral.
- Apply full power with afterburner smoothly.
- Lighten the nose at 125 KIAS.
- Rotate smoothly at about 160 KIAS; don't over-rotate or
you'll hit the tail.
After Takeoff
- Retract landing gear once a positive rate of climb is established.
- Retract flaps and lower wing before reaching 220 KIAS.
- After flaps are retracted reduce throttle to 97% RPM.
- Climb at 380 KIAS and 97% power for normal climb.
- Climb at 0.8 Mach above 10,000 feet for normal climb.
- Climb at about 400 KIAS in afterburner for best rate of climb.

Normal Descent
- Retard throttles to idle.
- Lower landing gear observing speed restrictions.
- Use speed brakes as necessary.
Landing (25,000 lbs.)
- Approach the field at about 325 KIAS with plenty of room to slow
down.
- Execute a sharp breaking turn of 90 degrees at 2.5g.
- Open speedbrake on rollout and raise wing to the first
position using flaps control.
- Slow to 220 KIAS and lower gear.
- Raise wing to second position.
- Use speedbrake as required.
- Speed on base leg should be 180 KIAS.
- Turn to final and lower full flaps, maintaining 160
KIAS using autothrottle.
- Use 10 units of AoA on final approach.
- Over airfield boundary speed should be 160 KIAS.
- Touch down in a slightly nose-up attitude at about 145 KIAS.
- Brake as necessary after front main gear touches down.
