AlphaSim F8 Corsair Procedures

For specifications and weights see the aircraft menu.  Use the Fuel and Payloads options to set up weight and fuel loading.

Engine Start

Use Ctrl-E (autostart) to start the aircraft, or:

  1. Set parking brake.
  2. Set throttle to IDLE.
  3. Bring up the Electrical Panel using the panel icon.
  4. Turn OFF Avionics and Deice switches.
  5. Turn on Master Battery switch.
  6. Ensure fuel supply is on (advance mixture control fully or press Ctrl-Shift-F4).
  7. Bring up throttle panel.
  8. Start Engine using the engine start switch.
  9. Monitor oil pressure and temperature.

Takeoff (normal fuel)

  1. Make sure fuel is sufficient.
  2. Check aircraft weight.
  3. Set wing incidence up, flaps to full down using flaps control.
  4. Set elevator trim neutral.
  5. Apply full power with afterburner smoothly.
  6. Lighten the nose at 125 KIAS.
  7. Rotate smoothly at about 160 KIAS; don't over-rotate or you'll hit the tail.

After Takeoff

  1. Retract landing gear once a positive rate of climb is established.
  2. Retract flaps and lower wing before reaching 220 KIAS.
  3. After flaps are retracted reduce throttle to 97% RPM.
  4. Climb at 380 KIAS and 97% power for normal climb.
  5. Climb at 0.8 Mach above 10,000 feet for normal climb.
  6. Climb at about 400 KIAS in afterburner for best rate of climb.

Normal Descent

  1. Retard throttles to idle.
  2. Lower landing gear observing speed restrictions.
  3. Use speed brakes as necessary.

Landing (25,000 lbs.)

  1. Approach the field at about 325 KIAS with plenty of room to slow down.
  2. Execute a sharp breaking turn of 90 degrees at 2.5g.
  3. Open speedbrake on rollout and raise wing to the first position using flaps control.
  4. Slow to 220 KIAS and lower gear.
  5. Raise wing to second position.
  6. Use speedbrake as required.
  7. Speed on base leg should be 180 KIAS.
  8. Turn to final and lower full flaps, maintaining 160 KIAS using autothrottle.
  9. Use 10 units of AoA on final approach.
  10. Over airfield boundary speed should be 160 KIAS.
  11. Touch down in a slightly nose-up attitude at about 145 KIAS.
  12. Brake as necessary after front main gear touches down.
