AlphaSim Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star Procedures

capacities and weights use the fuel and payloads menu.
- Stalling speed, clean: 103 KIAS at normal weight
- Stalling speed, landing: 86 KIAS at normal weight.
Engine Start
Use Ctrl-E (autostart) to start the aircraft.
Takeoff
- Make sure fuel is set to fuselage tank.
- Set flaps to the up position.
- Set elevator trim 1 degree nose-up, rudder and ailerons
neutral.
- Apply full power smoothly.
- Rotate at 105-110 KIAS, liftoff at 125-130 KIAS.
- Retract landing gear and retrim as needed.
Climb
- Climb at 215 KIAS.
- Set climb power to 90-95% N1.
- Normal climb is about 8 minutes to 25,000 feet,
covering 35 nm and using 23 gallons of fuel.
Cruising
- Set cruise power as desired from 70-85% N1.
- A normal cruise is around 350 KIAS.
Landing
- Approach the field at about 200 KIAS with plenty of room to slow down.
- Deploy speedbrake as required.
- Extend landing gear on downwind at about 160 KIAS.
Retrim as needed.
- Deploy flaps in stages, up to 1/4 down on downwind, 1/2
down on base. Retrim as needed.
- Don't deploy full flaps until the runway is made.
- Normal landing speed is 115 KIAS over the fence, touchdown at about 100
KIAS.
