AlpahSim Super Cobra AH-1W Checklists

(Abbreviated for use with the flight simulator only)

 

Preflight

 

  1. Exterior Check
    1. 20mm M197 gun turret
    2. Main landing gear
    3. Engine Inlet
    4. Upper flight controls and swashplate
    5. Pylons
    6. Mounted Weapons
    7. Tailboom
    8. Stabilizer
    9. Tail rotor. Controls, hub and blades
    10. Canopy

 

  1. Interior Check (Pilot controls)
    1. Canopy door
    2. Seat Adjustment to design eye position
    3. Pedals check
    4. PARKING BRAKE Set (Ctrl-period)
    5. DE-ICE switch – OFF
    6. ENG 1 and 2 switched – ON
    7. Master avionics switch – OFF
    8. Flight instruments – OFF
    9. Clock – Set

 

Starting Engines

 

  1. Power lever (collective) – IDLE
  2. Master Battery Alternator switch – ON
  3. Instrument Panel Lights as required
  4. Master Avionics Switch – ON
  5. Start Engine(s) – press Ctrl-Shift-F4
  6. Generator Switches to On when NG  readhes 20%
  7. ANTI-ICE switch – ON
  8. Pitot heat – ON if conditions warrant it
  9. Once N2 reaches 100% helicopter is ready to FLY

 

Taxi

 

  1. Release PARK BRAKE – press Ctrl-period
  2. Exterior lights as required
  3. Increase collective to 20-24% torque.
  4. Apply slight forward cyclic to begin taxi

 

Take Off

 

  1. Increase collective to 100% to lift off.

 

After Landing

 

  1. Exterior lights as required
  2. ANTI-ICE switch – OFF
  3. Pitot Heat switch – OFF
  4. Master Avionics Switch as required

 

Engine Shutdown

 

  1. PARK BRAKE set
  2. Power Lever – IDLE
  3. Let engine(s) cool at IDLE for 2 minutes
  4. Shut off FUEL Control Switch (or press Ctrl-Shift-F1)
  5. Master Battery Alternator switch – STANDBY
  6. Generator Switches - OFF
