B-1B Lancer for MSFS out now !
Virtavia's first MSFS release for 2024 !
First released in 2010, this model has been steadily improved over the years though FS9, FSX, Prepar3D iterations and now finally, the B-1B has been converted and further improved for MSFS. Now presented in an easy-accessible single-variant format, the famous 'Bone' has been carefully remastered for the MSFS environment. The exterior model was still in very good shape and needed little work for the new sim, so all attention was directed to the interior with several asthetic improvements and the addition of the MSFS rain fx glazing feature. A new sounds package is provided with varied switch sounds and of course all-new exterior engine sounds, including the popular afterburner rumble from the earlier versions. A togglable bomb load of 24 JDAMs hangs in the three bays, wing sweep has been simplified to 3 positions and interior night lighting intensity is now adjustable. You can see screenshots of the MSFS B-1B and its cockpit on the MSFS B-1B Lancer page. You can also download a free copy of the MSFS B-1B Lancer's Operating Manual. P6M-2 Seamaster for MSFS out now !
Virtavia's fourth MSFS title in 2023 !Virtavia's first MSFS seaplane just had to be this radical and innovative 1950's jet-powered minelayer. Few waterborne aircraft capture the imagination like the Martin P6M Seamaster, with its four J75 turbojets at full power, kicking up a vast amount of spray and tearing the water apart as it thunders into the air. This amazing spectacle was sadly short-lived due to the cancellation in 1959 of this most awesome of all seaplanes after only a handful of completed production airframes. This detailed MSFS simulation of the P6M-2 production variant strives to bring back a taste of what these marvellous machines must have been like to witness and of course to fly. The Seamaster's unique (for a seaplane) rotating ventral mine bay is present and animated on this model, as are the hydroflaps/speedbrakes at the rear. A steerable beaching cradle permits easy entrance/exit into and out of the water, be it a river, lake or ocean. Retracting the 'gear' on the water removes the cradle from view and the aircraft is now afloat and ready to take to the air. Other features such as the leading edge auto-slats, spoilerons, all-moving tail, animated spray deflectors on the nose and windshield wipers complete this daring expansion adding to the experience of MSFS's wonderful water surface simulation. A gray/white fictional 'in service' livery is included which really brings out the Seamaster's striking lines. The cockpit is as accurate as the limited image resources have permitted, with close reference to the original Martin pilot's manual to obtain as much information as practically possible. A suitable jet soundtrack, coupled with a range of water spray, wake, splash and smoke effects help to capture the unforgettable display of every Seamaster take-off. You can see screenshots of the Seamaster and its cockpit on the MSFS P6M Seamaster page. You can also download a free copy of the MSFS Seamaster's Operating Manual. Available now only at SimMarket at only 18.75 EUR (approx. $20.60 USD, 16 GBP, 30 AUD).
Aug 22:
F7F-3 Tigercat for MSFS out now !
Virtavia's third MSFS title !After a great run with X-Plane users, this unique mix of real military and fictional civilian Tigercats is now available for MSFS. The F7F-3 single-seater depicted in this package has three unique fuel loads, giving slightly different handling characteristics - 'clean', 1x belly tank and 2x wing tanks flight model versions are provided. In addition to the two US Marines aircraft (one clean, one armed with rockets), there are three fictional period 'racer' types with interesting paint jobs, using the rarely-seen F7F prop spinners and all weaponry removed. With no external tanks or pylons these three offer the most lively performance option and are a delight to fly. A very detailed virtual cockpit is provided with almost all switches clickable with a high level of authentic functionality. Folding wings are of course included as well as an animated tail hook. The tricycle undercarriage is faithfully reproduced, cowl flaps, oil cooler flaps and pilot's retractable step are all animated. A thunderous Wwise soundscape is of course present with a wide variety of cockpit sounds. Check out the new screenshots on the MSFS F7F-3 Tigercat page. You can also download a free copy of the MSFS Tigercat's Operating Manual. Available now only at SimMarket at only 18.75 EUR ($20.50 USD, 16 GBP, 32 AUD).
June 24:
A-4E Skyhawk for MSFS out now !
Virtavia's second MSFS title !Virtavia's follow up after the Short Stirling now ready for take-off. The ever-popular Douglas A-4E Skyhawk FSX/P3D package has now been fully re-mastered for MSFS. Like the Stirling, the 'Scooter' now benefits from the amazing MSFS visuals, PBR textures, a Wwise soundscape, cockpit rain fx, exhaust heat haze and multiple settable loadout categories. NINE Skyhawks are included in the package (7 x A-4E's with and without the 'hump' and 2 x A-4G's) with 7 liveries (US Navy, Marines and RAN), these are grouped into four weight/fuel tank type categories ('Clean', Center Tank', 'Fully Loaded' and 'Wing Tanks'), each with unique flight dynamics due to the differing fuel locations and optional weapon payloads. Typical weapon loads are carried, including, Mk82 Snakeyes, AGM-45 Shrikes, Rocket Pods and AIM-9s (A-4G variant only). The ordnance weights can easily be added or removed on the MSFS Payload screen using accurate weight data provided in the included operating manual, the 'Fully Loaded' category has the payload weights pre-loaded and behaves realistically sluggish, unlike the super-agile 'Clean' variants. All weapons can be toggled off visually if desired using a cockpit switch, likewise the pilot figure, control column and access ladder can be easily visually toggled using switches. The main panel and side console instrument and text lighting are separately dimmable using potentiometers. Other features are present, such as autopilot HDG, ALT, SPD and Yaw Damper, wing-mounted autospoilers, AoA Indexer, optional pop-up modern radios or a multifunction 'period' radio in the side console, and a working Terrain Avoidance Mode in the radar unit. And yes, the Top Gun Adversary variant is back ! Check out the new screenshots on the MSFS A-4E Skyhawk page. You can also download a free copy of the MSFS Skyhawk's Operating Manual. The Virtavia A-4E Skyhawk package for MSFS is available now at SimMarket at only 22 EUR ($24 USD, 19 GBP, 37 AUD).

Short Stirling for X-Plane out now
Now available for X-Plane 11 - the mighty Short Stirling !The first commercial-quality simulation of the Stirling bomber was brought to you by AlphaSim (Virtavia's old name) in 2002. Now, twenty years later, Virtavia presents another flightsim Stirling - an all-new state-of-the-art simulation for X-Plane 11. Overshadowed in the eyes of the general public by the much better-known Lancaster, and perhaps also the Halifax, the Stirling was nevertheless a stalwart of RAF Bomber Command during the early years of World War Two. Virtavia has made sure that the Stirling experience in X-Plane is authentic but still not beyond the ability of a flightsim novice to enjoy. Great attention to detail has been lavished throughout, PBR textures, all six cockpit windows can be opened, a crew access ladder, the glistening wing oil streaks seen on all well-used Stirlings, and of course 'that' undercarriage - yes, the enormous landing gear is faithfully represented and moves just like it should. The bomb bays (both fuselage and wings) contain a mixed, togglable bomb load. These are not droppable as yet, but once the tech is better understood (XP12 ?), this feature can be added. Recordings of actual Bristol Hercules engines were used in the sounds package, their deep bass drone will have you turning up the volume for sure. All three wartime variants of the bomber are included (see below) and extensive testing was done in VR to ensure a bug-free virtual Stirling experience. A 22-page illustrated user manual explains things in easy terms and a pilot's checklist makes getting airborne simple.
Check out the new cockpit screenshots on the Stirling page. You can also download a free copy of the Virtavia Stirling's User Manual. The Virtavia Short Stirling for X-Plane is available now (or very soon) at X-plane.org, FlightSim.com, SimMarket and SimShack.

Handley Page Hampden for X-Plane out now !
This old AlphaSim/Virtavia favourite has been completely overhauled for X-Plane 11. Whilst improvements have been made to the already very good exterior model, the main attraction is the all-new and highly detailed cockpit model. The PBR textures and an FMOD sounds package really bring this WW2-era British medium bomber to life. And totally VR ready ! Extensive flight testing was done using the HTC Vive to hone the experience to perfection. The Hampden pilot enjoys superior visibility compared to similar aircraft of the era, making this a superb classic sight-seeing platform for VR users. Two big radials and a taildragger configuration require expertise to master on the ground, this will appeal to those who enjoy sharpening their skills. Once airborne, the Hampden, whilst certainly not fast, is agile and delightful to fly. A landing speed of only 70kts makes the experience very similar to modern GA types, but the roar of the old single-row radial Pegasus engines are a reminder that this early monoplane was not intended to be 'civil'...- B.Mk.1, 185 Sqn., Cottesmore, 1939
- B.Mk.1, 144 Sqn., North Luffenham, 1942
- B.Mk.1, 1404 (Met) Flight, Coastal Command, 1943

- TB.Mk.1, 415 Sqdn, Royal Canadian Air Force, 1943

Source Files for Developers
New Developer Section added to the site. Virtavia now offers developer licenses to use the complete source files for selected Virtavia models. Most will be in 3D Studio Max 14 format (although some older models are Max 9), both exterior and cockpit models, including all modeldef.xml code, .fx files, animations, gauges and all texture source files (incl. those used for gauge backgrounds where available) and in some cases, all engine sounds. Flight dynamics files (FSX/P3D) are also included. The 3DSMax materials will be setup as P3D type with all the special folders/files needed to easily compile P3D or FSX/SE models. Where the aircraft has multiple variants, 3DSMax Selection Sets are used so that the variants can be easily selected and compiled. The license will permit royalty-free commerical use of models or images generated from the source files, although the source files themselves can not be distributed or sold. These files will enable talented developers to create improved or updated FSX/P3D versions of these aircraft or even new titles for X-Plane, FS2020, DCS World, ARMA or any other sims, if desired.
Available immediately are the source files for the C-17A Globemaster III and the B-1B Lancer. And coming soon - SH-3 Sea King ! The plan is to work through the collection, including some of the better freeware models, and provide these as usable 3DSMax source for developers. Licensing agreements with 3rd parties will prohibit some models from being offered in this way, but a great many can and will be done.
For model availability and pricing, head over to the Developer Section !

B-24 Liberator US Navy variants Expansion Pack out now
Another expansion pack for the B-24 Liberator, available in FSX, FSX SE and Prepar3D formats. This one features three variations of the US Navy's PB4Y-1 and of course the PB4Y-2 Privateer !.Aircraft featured :
- PB4Y-1 Liberator early version (navalised B-24D), ASW livery
- PB4Y-1 Liberator with Erco nose turret, tricolor livery
- P4Y-1P Liberator with Erco nose turret, Glossy Sea Blue livery
- PB4Y-2 Privateer, tricolor livery
- PB4Y-2 Privateer, Glossy Sea Blue livery
Important Note : As with the recent RAF expansion, this package is an EXPANSION for the Virtavia B-24 Liberator, the original product is however only needed for the SOUNDS. In Steam Edition, if you are able to edit the sound.cfg to point to another model with appropriate sounds, or you wish to add your own sounds to the Sound folder of this package, then the original B-24 package will not be required. With Prepar3D, this version installs into a 'Virtavia' folder in the Program Files (x86) folder. Instructions are provided in the manual (which you can get here) on how to copy the files into the P3D Airplanes folder. The P3D version is temporarily set up to use the sounds of one of the default models, it is however straightforward to copy and paste the sounds from the original B-24 Liberator package into the USN variants' folder. It is not possible however to alias to the B-24 sounds like in FSX SE due to how the original B-24 was installed into the P3D Add-ons folder. For this reason, the USN variants package can not use the auto discovery method of P3D.
This new B-24 expansion is now available for only $19.95 US, 17.50 EUR, 16 GB Pounds.

- Liberator GR.VI, RAF Coastal Command.
Important Note : This package is an EXPANSION for the Virtavia B-24 Liberator, the original product is however only needed for the SOUNDS. Instructions are provided in the P3D manual (which you can get here) on how to copy the files into the P3D Airplanes folder. The P3D version is temporarily set up to use the sounds of one of the default models, it is however straightforward to copy and paste the sounds from the original B-24 Liberator package into the RAF variants' folder. It is not possible however to alias to the B-24 sounds like in FSX SE due to how the original B-24 was installed into the P3D Add-ons folder. For this reason, the RAF variants package can not use the auto discovery method of P3D.
This huge B-24 expansion is now available for only $19.95 US, 17.50 EUR, 16 GB Pounds.

More VR news
Several models which were listed as not VR-compatible now work in Steam VR ! A small edit to the panel.cfg is all it takes to remedy the issue. Simply changing the 1 to 0 on the 'render_3d_window=' line under [Window00] will fix the no-show when using FlyInside. Most of the fixed models are fine, but some will need scale errors fixing.
Martin Mars, MV-22 Osprey, F-104 Starfighter, Ka-27 Helix - all correct size.
F-111 Aardvark - slightly small but otherwise perfect (fly at dusk, incredible !)
Heinkel He111 - slighty large but otherwise perfect.
F-105D Thunderchief, MH-53J Pavelow, F-106A Delta Dart, Mi-28 Havoc, SH-2 Seasprite - all very oversize and need repair.
Mi-24D Hind - still not functional.
Aug 5 :
T-6 Texan/Harvard VR update
The VR status of the T-6 Texan has been changed to green or 'perfect' on the Steam VR compatibility page. The no-show status in Steam VR was not related to FlyInside, but was due to missing folders in the FSX SE Texan standalone main package version. Users of the optional T-6 DLC package would not have experienced this problem in VR. An updated installer has been sent to vendors.

Thanks to the excellent add-on 'FSX FlyInside', it's possible to fly in virtual reality using FSX Steam Edition. All Virtavia SE models have now been test-flown using FlyInside and the results were promising - many worked without any problems, some had minor cockpit size issues and a few need some serious attention. If you have a VR headset already and are considering purchasing Virtavia SE titles, or if you are just curious about VR and FSX, you can check the compatibility of Virtavia models on the new Steam Edition VR Compatibility page.Dec 23 :
Coming soon - B-47E Stratojet for X-Plane 11 !
The ever-popular Virtavia B-47E Stratojet has now been reworked for X-Plane 11 and will be released shortly. A new bump-mapped bare-metal effect has been applied which really brings out the classic lines of the famous Stratojet. The original model's cockpit has also been converted, screenshots will be posted very soon. The RATO function of the FSX version is not included, although it's possible this could be part of a future update. The conversion process is far from simple so we are not able to offer the model package as a free update, although the pricing is favourable at only US$19.95.

The Flightsim Store
After 6 months of non-payment of royalties and zero communication, Virtavia is resigned to the sad fact that the Flightsim Store is no longer a viable vendor to sell our models. As we are no longer receiving any payment at all for the models they sell, we must regretfully advise our customers that they should use other vendors to purchase Virtavia aircraft. Tech support will be provided to Flightsim Store customers only for those models bought before March 2018. The flightsim community should be aware that this vendor is now profiting illegally from small FS developers such as Virtavia.

Virtavia still here !
Apologies for the recent site downtime, this was due to a domain registration issue which has now been resolved. I also apologize for the appallingy long time (over a year !) since the last news entry. Please don't think nothing has been happening, far from it. Whilst it is true that no new FS aircraft have been developed since the XB-46 (March 2017), many new aircraft models have been and are still being created. These new creations (all US Navy) include rare beasts such as the P6M Seamaster, AM-1 Mauler, PB2Y Coronado, P4M Mercator, YF2Y-1 Sea Dart, XTB2D-1 Skypirate, as well as better-known USN stalwarts such as the S-2D Tracker, S-3A Viking, F2H Banshee, A-7E Corsair II, F9F-2 Panther, and there are many more in-build (EC-121, F-8E, F-4J, PBY, P-3, AF Guardian, XF10F-1 Jaguar, Bearcat, Tigercat, Buckeye and more). All these high-quality aircraft are being completed as exterior models only, as their purpose is not flight simulation - it is to populate a huge virtual-reality US Navy Air Museum. The concept will be explained fully and demonstrated on an all-new website which is presently being developed. In short, this new stand-alone software places the user in a large 3D domed building populated with 50-60 US Navy aircraft. The environment will contain dynamic aspects such as numerous animated human characters, interactive displays, ambient sounds etc. This amazing experience is primarily directed at users of VR equipment such as the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift although a version will be usable on a normal PC using the keyboard and mouse. This concept has been in development since 2012, it's hoped it will be released in the first half of 2019. More VR aircraft museums are planned for the future (USAF, RAF etc). The screengrabs below are of the present beta version, many more aircraft will be added as well as more static interior detailing and animated human figures. Some users may experience problems with the images below displaying correctly, if this happens please right-click on the thumbnails and select 'open link'.

Announcing the Convair XB-46 !
Back in 1947, Consolidate Vultee's beautiful jet bomber was dropped in favour of Boeing's superior B-47 Stratojet. A detailed virtual cockpit will be added so you can experience this vintage bomber's asthetics in FSX and FSX SE. Coming early in 2017. Screenshots of the exterior can be viewed on the new XB-46 page.

Virtavia FSX Steam Edition models available now !All of the Virtavia collection is being re-presented for the new Steam Edition of FSX. Each model is now in two parts - the Main Package (ONE model, ONE variant), and a separate DLC Package, which contains the remainder of the original package (eg. additional variants and liveries). This means two things - firstly that new buyers get a Steam-specific installer (FSX SE has a different folder structure) and secondly that the model will be MUCH cheaper. As the main package is only a single variant (of course including the panel, sounds and other vital files), it can be sold at a considerably lower price. The additional variants are then completely optional. In most cases, the DLC (Down-Loadable Content) version will cost less than the Main Package, but in some cases it wil be more, such as the Virtavia A-4 Skyhawk, which has a great many variants. The current list of avaliable models can be seen on the new Steam Edition page, which is being updated constantly as we create and add new Steam Edition packages. So if you are a new user to FSX Steam Edition, now's the time to grab some amazing bargains from Virtavia !
NOTE - existing owners of these products do not have to re-purchase for FSX SE. Just e-mail us on the Support address and we'll get you a temporary link to the SE version of your aircraft. Proof of purchase must be provided.

The Lincoln User Manual can be downloaded here : Avro Lincoln User Manual (PDF). Version v1.1 of the Lincoln has been released to vendors and should be made available by them on Monday. The main changes in v1.1 are the addition of the manual, the missing cockpit piece on RF555 and a range of external viewpoints. Repainters please note the paint kit is now available in our Freeware area.Oct 30 :
The Lincoln User Manual was not included with version 1.0 - a new version V1.1 update will be released as soon as possible which will include the manual and some fixes and improvements suggested by users. Some users noted the lack of night red flood lighting in the cockpit. This is not possible due to a well-known FSX bug which prevents that feature when bump-mapping is used in a vc. This is the first vc we have used bump maps in and the effect is a great enhancement we think. The gauge lighting operates as normal, so it's a reasonable compromise given the enhanced visuals in daytime light.Oct 29 :

We are now happy to include all panels and gauges for any freeware models we list, so if you have already downloaded a free model from our site and it lacks a panel and/or gauges, drop us an e-mail and we can re-upload your model's complete Zip file(s) - this time with all panel files included.Apr 10 :

The cockpit has been reproduced to a very high standard so that every switch and knob is included, along with its exact desciptive text. The real Martin Marlin Pilot's Manual was used to make sure there were no mistakes. Final screenshots of the Virtavia Marlin's exterior and interior models and all the various liveries can now be viewed on the new page here : Martin SP-5B Marlin ! Release will be in 1-2 days ...
